Workout Motivation Tips for Bariatric Patients

While fanatics might disagree, working out isn’t always the most fun. While finding programs and activities that you enjoy are important, staying motivated gets difficult for everyone from time to time.

Especially in the time of Coronavirus, it’s tough to stay motivated. Check out these tips below to get–and stay–on track.

Workout in the Morning

It can be difficult to get up in the morning, but people who work out in the morning are more likely to create a regular routine. Morning workouts are less likely to run into scheduling conflicts, boosts your energy for the day, and promote a healthier lifestyle. Start slow with short workouts and gradually add by getting up a little earlier every day.

Gather Your Favorite Music

Creating a workout playlist will make you more excited to get moving. Make a playlist of songs that you can’t help to move to–especially right at the beginning of your workout. This will pump you up and get you motivated to exercise.

Add it into Your Schedule

If you have a set calendar or planner, add your workouts into your daily schedule. You’ll be less inclined to skip the workout if it is written down and scheduled. If you need to miss a workout, add a note as to why you needed to miss it and reschedule it – just like with any other task in your day.

Make is a Social Activity

People who work out together stay motivated and hold one another accountable. Find a workout buddy, join a group, or attend classes (online classes are great, too) to give yourself a support system.

Get Ready Ahead of Time

Prepare everything you need before your workout. Pack a bag and gather a water bottle, headphones, clothes and shoes – anything that you will need for your workout. It’s also a good idea to invest in a quality workout outfit.

Just like any weight loss method, bariatric surgery is not a one-and-done option. It’s an ongoing lifestyle change that requires dedication and effort to be successful. If you need support on your weight loss journey, contact our amazing support team at Lap-Band of Louisville Surgical Associates.
